imo its not common to find rifts between child and parent and the parents are completely decent.

Being the only daughter/child of your mother makes the relationship tricky at times. My ma was real strict on me, but she had a soft side.

This is facts. I see what you mean. No my family has always been there for me in one way or the other. Regardless of any past friction, growing pains, angst - my parents mean everything. Being estranged was not an option that I would consider - if my parents needed an organ/health concerns, or emergency situation - I drop everything and do whatever I could to help . No questions asked or second thoughts. There needs to be a level of respect for your parents, otherwise I think you just curse yourself. I can’t be that selfish and self centered with them, my guilt complex would be too heavy on my conscience.
