Ever had to break a kids NBA/NFL/Pro Sports dream?

This lil dude where I live has BIG NBA dreams but I can't tell him flatly.. "you ain't gonna make it".

Dude just graduated HS, isn't even in the local CC right now, and quite honestly... he doesn't have that drive (nor talent) to even make it to the D1 level as it stands. I try to tell'em in a roundabout way like.. People who are NBA bound usually at least have college offers before they leave HS. I bring the dude to the gym with me and he doesn't even kill the competition there (and we're all pretty much shells of our former selves, many 30+. He never talks about it at the gym... I might just bring it up randomly at the gym and let the wolves have him. But he's adamant. I feel bad for the dude.

Any of you had to deal with someone like that?

Let him tell it, he was going to make the NBA as a free agent, or play overseas somewhere. Now he's back in our hometown working at some factory.

yeah, lil homie is talkin about going overseas or d league or something if the NBA isn't an option (which it isn't)... he even get offended when I tell him to focus more on school than sports.

There's a dude who hoops at the local gym here...who didn't play in high school, can't shoot a left-handed lay-up and has almost zero athleticism....and is like 23....and is a 5'9" white dude....

...who legitimately plans on trying out for a D-League team. He's actually paying a shooting coach at the moment...$50/Hr like 3 times a week

It's not for to tell him, especially if you're not in the league or ever played professionally. He's not going to listen to you anyway and count you as another hater. Tell him to enroll in a Comm. Coll. and go from there.

whats worse is that we have millions of young black boys trying to get into the nba and nfl...thats a total of less than what...2400 jobs?

i had a friend that came to grips with the idea when they ran into the rare precocious 12 year old kids at the gym that can drain NBA 3s and actually do damage in a pick up game and run point. they are out there and some of them aint still going to be shyt.
