Gotta love when hubris backfires :ahh:. Them fools thought they could put the games on any time, any day and folks would just flock to their TV screens. They got a rude awakening because one of the few things that trumps football in this country is debauchery :heh:. The shyt was stupid, flat out. There was no reason to air those games on new years eve, and so late in the day at that. For starters, fukk the traditional bowls. How the fukk do exhibition games trump games that are deciding a championship? Secondly, you had last Saturday wide the fukk open. Watch how fast that shyt change. You can complain and protest all you want, when nikkas lose money that is when change happens.

ESPN paid $5.64 billion for the right to air the playoffs until 2025....and they have no say in the scheduling of the games. Think about the sheer lunacy of that decision.

Then they followed up that amazing coup by paying more than a billion per year for the right to air NBA games whose ratings have been steadily declining in spite of (or perhaps because of) increased product.

All the money they "save" by firing on-air talent is a drop in the bucket compared to the massive avalanche of those two terrible decisions.

Bill Hancock is delusional af.

Luckily for them NYE will be on Saturday this year. Then again with NYE be on saturday people wont want to be stuck at home. So we'll see.
At no point will the masses choose football over NYE. If Michigan was facing Notre dame in the playoffs on NYE even I would find a club or spot with maybe a TV behind the bar, but I'm not staying at home period

I didn't watch one second of the Bama/MSU game and only a few minutes of the other one.

What's wrong with the very next day? Most people are off work and hungover....seems like a perfect day to sit on your couch and watch football.

Maybe I missed it but did they explain why they can't move the games to a better day?

It's in the best interest of everyone involved. If advertisers and networks are losing money and fans are not watching, what rational could you possibly have for keeping the game on nye?

You would think these guys would be negotiating asap to not lose money and viewers like this
