I disagree. There was a two week countdown and was dubbed game of the century leading to it. It was a turning point for both programs, and there are countless what ifs had michigan won.
Michigan sonned out florida the following year. Had they got florida and osu got usc, everything is different....all because of a single late hit.
That Florida team lost its best defensive player after that NC win (Reggie Nelson) and their starting QB who could actually throw a football properly (Chris Leak).
Who knows how it would have played out. I will give you that there should be a OSU-UM 30 for 30. But I can't follow you on a dedicated doc for that one game.
I know it was 1v2, but the fact that it wasn't a title game of any sort and simply a play in, and that neither team went on to win their games after kind of deads the hype in retrospect.
There have been other 1v2 games where one of the teams went on to win the NC. Also, you right that game had tremendous hype. But game of the century was and always will be 06 USC-Texas Rose Bowl.
