According to this ESPN report back in 2018 he was already locked into a 9 year deal before he decided to the extension with 2 years remaining on his the original contract with Bob Arum

I feel the whole ESPN deal is what lured Crawford into resigning with Top Rank. I'm pretty sure Todd offered Bud the fights "on the other side of the fence" maybe blindly assuming that Haymon and Crew would also want to fight Crawford. But looking at the landscape right now the EARLIEST Crawford vs Spence would happen is Fall 2020. But who does Crawford fight until then? I don't want to see a Kell Brook fight or any Eastern Undefeated Euros nobody knows. Crawford is gonna be in his mid 30s before we know it.
