Scored the fight 8-4 (116-110, anybody knows why Ward had it 116-111 ?) and thought that Loma did relatively well considering he was coming from a should injury and fighting a unification bout. Not his best showing obviously and he got tagged way too much in the 10th but otherwise he was not that bad. I think part of his averageness was due to Pedraza who had a good showing and should have invested earlier in the body but also the lack of right hook which are necessary for his pivots. Anyway, we'll see how he fares next fight and see if it was just a one off.
Like everybody, 135 is defo is celling though as he already looks quite buff at this weight and man consistently has height and reach disadvantage. I think Manny was smaller than him but he had a reach that was average for 140 while Loma is already sub-par at 135 so he's pretty much stuck here by his physical limits. Also, I'm not too much worried about his face as dude marks super easily and I don't recall any fight of him where his face was clean at the end. He does get touched more than average compared to the other elite boxers but it's also because of his attacking/pressure style so I think it's kinda expected.
Finally, I wish there was a way to have a commentary-free broadcast, I'd actually pay for that feature so I could only hear the crowd and the fight. I'm a Loma stan but the commentary was embarassingly pro-Loma. In the 10th, when Pedraza got busy the announcers got silent for a good 10 seconds til Bradley broke the awkwardness to salute Pedraza. I know the machine is behind him so I understand these dudes got to do the job but they really need to tone down the slurping, it's annoying and it's part of why some people hate on him.
I wish Ward was doing the commentary instead of Bradley. Not that Bradley is bad or anything but you can sense from his analysis that Ward is always neutral and tells it like it. When the broadcast got after 4th for the analysis, he had the fight 2-2 (I did too) and was very fair in his assesments while it basically felt that SAS gave 1 round for Pedraza out of pity.
