I unfortunately think the damage is done and is beyond irreversible at this point.

It would be one thing if it was just the rising cost of living...but its also the rising cost of public transportation, food, and the fluctuating job market that's making gentrification hard to swallow for most. I agree with you about detroit...thats gonna be another gentrifiers wet dream.

I don't this southern resettlement is going to work well at all either. If the events of this summer were any indication of what's in store it's going to get very ugly.

Black will always be in NYC, obviously just not in the high numbers of the past

If people sell then that's on them. Nobody's forcing you. If you're a renter in NYC then you have a ton of rights. The land lord can't just kick you out. Nobody's being obtuse. Yes there are more white people in Bk, and more coming. But a lot of them are in newly built buildings.
