Respect the good & understand the bad
Both of these were very solid releases. Iamsu has his own lane, Joe Blow, Jacka was dope as hell and transcended the regional bay sound, Paris just dropped, there was a thread made about Boots today.. If you don't like or follow it, there's no need to dedicate a whole thread to us. We mind our own business, just as you should. We got a lot of dope ass neo-soul artists too.

It's a "Cali" sound.. Smh Mustard comon man.

It's NOT a Cali sound... Mustard stole that shyt, and ran with it in LA.... but the function sound is some straight up Bay shyt.

Bay Area in 2007.... all the elements of the function sound were already in place.

Same cat, in 2012...

Can't fall off if you were never on :mjlol:

E-40 is the only person any ever even ALMOST cared about :francis:
Right...that's why biggie had short listed as one of his favorite rappers...so much so even Jay felt the need to do a song with him. Pac also claimed Oakland (I won't even count him tho...but it's the city he claimed).

And to OP, the bay was never a huge player nationally, but we always had our own thing and one of the few regions that continues to support homegrown acts. The bay and Houston pretty much mirror each other in hiphop, had a few moments, but local love is all that matters

The last really dope album that came out of there was True & Livin' and that was 2005:sadcam:

I respect the historical rappers they had back in the 80's and 90's and i'll admit that some of the best songs that i've ever heard were from there like 95 til infinity, The Ghetto, Brenda's got a baby, i got 5 on it, and Trigga Gots No Heart and had some Incredible albums there in that time period too. I'm not the biggest Paris fan but in respect his energy and his skill set.

Fast forward to 2015, that whole region is barely making any contributions since The beginning of this decade and all they do is just complain about DJ Mustard taking their style all day.

Hold this L
Bay got 40 Waters , Philthy Rich, HBK Gang (IAMSU , Sage n em) they straight :francis:
