I worked for SWA for 18 months. They were not a corporation. Almost like the Lakers and some sports teams that are mom and pops. They went against the grain, because of the lack of corporate training.

Herb Keller was the owner. He ran SWA until he passed it to Gary Kelly around the 00’s or maybe teens. Gary was an internal hire. SWA never had layoffs from its inception (70’s) until last year. Didn’t have a losing quarter neither.

Now there’s a new CEO and with rising labor costs, they have to fall in line with the big three. SWA is just another airline. They just about lost its heart.
