I watched the first season off of hype and I was curious to see what a hip hop show would be like. It was basically a soap opera that had no consistent characterization it was like they did things to get social media buzzing and they had a lot bad stunt casting like Chris Rock playing a cannibal crime lord. The music scene wasn't reflective of what it is today, all the music sounds like mid 00's and there were notable cringe moments from my time watching like the gay one winning a rap battle while singing and Cookie in a gorilla suit. It was like shyt was hot for a season with me and everyone I know getting off the show during its second season. I don't know anyone who still watches Empire.
