When Luffy finally rescued his older brother Ace from the Execution Stand, only to watch Ace get killed right in front of him by that Lava dude. Then the next episode when Luffy woke up and was asking.."Where is ACE!?!?!? Where is ACE!?!?!?"

That shyt made me think about Dough Boy after Ricky got shot.

It was 100x worse in the original anime. They spent way more time with her and the dog and she called them big brother a lot more so the impact hit a lot harder.

It's one of the only things the original did better IMO

Yeah, but you can't fault the new series for that. They didn't wanna spend much time on it cuz we already saw it before in the first anime. They did that to a few scenes instead of just repeating them fully again.
