Eminem: When Did He Start Falling Off?

And he fell off with Encore.

Isn't this common knowledge?

But it's not like he "fell off" to pure wackness. I just listened to Relapse again today, and the rhymes on it are pretty amazing. I'm not a fan of the accent, and the subject matter gets kinda tiresome, but his rhyme schemes throughout are incredible - especially on 3AM, Stay Wide Awake, Medicine Ball, Underground, etc. Recovery is kind of similar - dragged down by corny punchlines, but Eminem can still rhyme his ass off. He's not what he was but he's still good.

Anybody who dismisses Eminem is a hater, pure and simple. It would be like dismissing Jay-Z or Nas. All your favorite rappers think Eminem is one of the GOATs. Don't be a hating ass troll because you wish so-and-so was as popular as Eminem. Popularity and record sales don't matter, and shouldn't affect your judgment of MC's. You don't lose points as a rapper just because you're popular.

SSLP & MMLP are classics.TES was good.then he got wack with Encore.then he dropped Relapse and came back some what.then he came out with recovery.that album got the most corn ball rap lines ever.

I know someone personally that has been workin with him in DC, ... Its sounds like bullsh1t but the truth is he has had writers block since he stopped using drugs.. listen to recovery and compare it to his previous work.. its obvious

nobody can deny he can spit but after TES his beats got weaker, choruses got wack, and too much singing.

This and he wasn't funny any more either.

a lot of interesting things in this thread and I'm a bit surprised by that because usually by the second page you get the STANS vs. HATERS wars in full mode but not this one (for the most part)

my question is could he have gone anywhere else but down after 8 mile ? I mean he was selling loads of records and got an Oscar for a track from a movie more or less about HIS life, who else did that in music period not rap ? not many

unfortunately songs like fack and ass like that only prove that larger they are harder they fall
there is absolutely no excuse for some of his SUPER WACK tracks I don't even understand how those recordings left the studio they're not even funny like that

he's probably always going to be in my top ten and if you've heard some of his more serious interviews you know that his love for the craft is almost unmatched which I can't help but respect...

Ya, Eminem has stated before he doesn't give a shyt if he's the best rapper around. And plus, ghost writers? Nobody knows unless they're credited on the album. If you listen to Eminem's freestyles and everything else, you can tell he's creative, nobody is writing for him.

Come on son, and of course, drugs will change your way of thinking, and what you put out. There's no question about them. Same thing people are saying about Lil Wayne falling off because he's off the drugs.

Then the fact before Eminem was more hungry for success, now that he has it his records have changed. He used to talk a lot of shyt about his mom and other things, does he still do that now? No, he changed.
