Grammy rules have changed in 2013...the committee for rap categories is mostly made of rappers, producers, radio hosts and co (even undergrand artists). Basically, rap music is judged by its own people. Thats why rappers like Killer Mike and Nas have finally won something.

The only thing that people dislike is rap music not getting enough love when it comes to the general categories.

So which one is it?

Do they matter or they don’t? I’m a killer Mike fan by the way and think Magic and Michael are probably the two best rap albums of the 2020s.

Let's not lie to ourselves here, it remains one of the most prestigious awards in music. Artists can feel a certain way when they lose, but they're all surper pride of that shyt when they win it.

99% of the artists keep submitting their music for a nomination :mjpls:

This board is crazy lol. One minute it’s awards and numbers don’t matter and Eminem is overrated/culture next minute it’s co-signing what he says

They've always mattered. Even more now that the hip hop culture is involved in the voting process.

Anybody who doesn't believe Kendrick should sweep is a moron. His 2024 was one of the greatest years for a rapper in history. He captivated the entire world with one song. So much that it singlehandedly earned him a superbowl performance. Then to top it off, he came through and dropped an incredible album. It was fukkin legendary. Kendrick brought REAL hip hop back to the forefront.
