12 songs in. I finally think I might found a song (framed) I really liked then that damn voice switch :francis:

This is a self sabotage. Em really just half assed this album. Trying to create fake emotions imo.

These songs are so mediocre. No hate. No Troll. No bias. Just mediocre AF

I got 7 songs to go:sadcam:

I voted 1/8 because I thought infinite was apart of this.

Nevermind it's a 0/8.

I don't see how you can like mmlp, but not slim shady lp, I just can't

Anyways critiquing this dude's discog will always reflect on him unfairly. On the one hand hes an astronomically gifted emcee and writer and with those come large expectations. On the other, he blew up too quick for any a&r department to keep up with his rate of success and quickly became the musical equivalent of The Transformers franchise.

His albums started off as culture-shifting blockbusters but, much like The Transformers, quickly devolved into cheap summer cash-grabs because they both fukking lack any sort of real substance. It's like watching the same fukking.... you know what, em probably wanted to make Illmatic and get 5 mics all his life, but he'd rather now just stay relevant and somewhat dope in truth

Infinite was a miss, had some god ol decent mid 90s em raps, but no replay value outside of the first track and no originality, so I'll give that a 5

Slim shady ep was an underground classic, got looks i the source and earned him a deal, 8-9

Sslp - 8 only because it's not as replayable as it was in the three years that followed

Mmlp - 8

Eminem show - 6/7

Encore - 4/5

Relapse - 5/6 (them accents have aged worse than encore, where hit or miss back then, definitely miss now, crack a bottle???)

Recovery - birth of the new em, the album where he dropped the accents but picked a yelling disorder. Recovery had maybe 1 respectable hit, 6 songs total but broke soundscan but doing numbers was never really an obstacle to this dude so means nothing in the critiquing of the music process. The shyt had white trash party and a lyric where disowns his previous 3 albums but a couple ok tracks without accents. Annoying and popular back then, just annoying now. 5/10

Mmlp2 - blasphemous 4/10

Revival - retirement party status of flabby. If he retires on this his legacy is officially and irreparably tarnished musically

3/8. Him and Lil Wayne have to be the only legends with a miserable good to bad album ratio

As an Eminem fan I can honestly say the last great album he did was The Eminem Show. 2002 was his peak artistically. Since then it's been a roller coaster.

Encore while not as bad as the internet claims it is was a step down in quality. Relapse was dope and I wasn't bothered by the accents. Recovery got me through a dark period in my life, and it'll hold a special place with me. From a critical standpoint however it was another step down in quality.

MMLP2 was mediocre. I can still listen to about 5-6 songs. Revival I hated originally. It's grown on me. But, it's still a disappointment. It's pretty much Recovery part 2. But, much worse. As a lyricist he's in my top 10. But, I can't defend this dudes discography anymore.

SSLP 3.5/5
MMLP 4/5
TES 4.5/5
Relapse 3.5/5

Those are his dope albums. Ironically those are the albums that had the most involvement from Dr. Dre and The Bass Brothers. Since then he's been throwing sh*t at the wall hoping it will stick. His albums lack cohesion and direction now.
