Yea after the next track (Brainless) there is a significant drop off imo. 2nd half of the album sucks other than Brainless and Evil Twin imo.

no love for Brainless or Groundhog Day...even Baby?...i feel like those and a few others kind of throwback to old Em..

So Much Better is damn near a Eminem Show throwaway.

He is spitting something serious on them for sure. But I still feel that there is something that is missing :yeshrug:

There is nothing that I would play again in lets say 6 months. I can still play Kill you, Criminal, The way I am, etc. 13 years later and they still feels fresher then every song on MMLP 2.

You said it your self, a throwaway song.

The closest thing we came to an old Em on this album is some of his own hooks.

i find a nice handful on every Em album that i'll bump. i know for sure that for years to come i'll bump Brainless, Rhyme or Reason, Legacy, Evil Twin, Groundhog Day, Beautiful Pain...and a few others

more quality joints than Recovery, but the beats arent that consistent on this project..and as previously stated Em is def on the downside, but still above alot of people.

Im going to give it another try tomorrow. Since both Love game and berzerk got better after a few listens, Im thinking it could happen to some few other records to.

I felt the same thing with his last albums. After the first disappointment settle down (from the high hopes it really will be close to the quality of old Em), I can listen again with fresh ears and no judgment.

This album here gets better with more listens. When you catch more of what he saying in his rhymes your reaction will be :banderas:

I always hated the notion of having to listen more in order to like it. I hate Monster and Berzerk, wont change.

But I finally heard that 2nd verse on survivor and listened to Love Gm like 5 times and now I actually kinda like those songs. Love Gm is actually dope when u sit a really listen. If you arent really paying attention, its easy to dismiss.

I'm still pissed the bonus tracks are so much better than a lot of the album. Just goes to show they were desperately trying to make hits instead of just make dipe music for the album.

I have no doubt about that, but still... Its just the feeling of it. Hard to explain but it think many can agree even tho his is still lyrically top notch there is something missing to his records.

And when we are talking about his lyrical ability, I have to say the wit is gone. And the lines don't grab you as they used to. It could be that I was younger back then and now days the shock value is gone, but I dont think thats the only reasons.

Its hard to accept one of your favorites has fallen of, but most musicians do. They have their gold years and then they gradually gets worse. They have to reinvent them selfs, and I feel that since hip hop is still such a young genre, many rap artists haven't figured out how to do it yet.

Made the mistake of reading the comment section of The AV Club review. Eminem talks about killing people in all kinds of horrible ways and it's clear it's all a joke, but when he drops gay slurs, these idiots seem to think he is being completely serious. Give me a break.

I had a thread about this. It's interesting how reviewers compliment his "brilliant" rhyme schemes about killing random bank clerks and chopping people's faces off...but the moment he drops a slur as a substitute for the word bytch, he's gone too far.
