I know you’re joking but this is actuallly a good example of sonys acquisition strategy. So far Ember Lab has put out one game, that was funded and marketed by sony, if they buy them it would be a studio they are planning on building up. It has 15 employees. It would have 50 by the end of 2022 if they were bought out
Sony has been better at the M&A game than the competition, no arguments from me on that. They also had a 10-year head start soooo.

When did Playstation say they would only make "organic" acquisitions?
It's just a joke about how people try to rationalize Sony acquisitions. "No no no, you see, Sony bought Naughty Dog leaderhip lunch one day so this is a completely organic and friendly takeover." As if Sony is some benevolent benefactor swooping in to save struggling studios :usure:. I don't believe Sony even thinks that lmao. And they def shutter underperforming studios when necessary. Yall wanna act like MS is this evil conglomerate while Sony been buying up all the shyt from the jump.

Sony actually didn’t buy their first studio until 2000.

And yeah, the reason why sony acquisition threads never go more than two pages on here or create a huge buzz online is because their strategy IS different. People dont care about the studios sony buys because they are typically unknown, small, or primarily already making games for them.

Microsoft is buying studio for IP which is why its considered dmore aggressive and why fan boys cheer them on to buy warner bros, sega, or take two. Thats the difference.

Sony stans are talking g about them possibly acquiring a 15 person studio and xbox stans are talking about them buying another major 3rd party publisher

Don’t be naive as if they’re the same

No one cared about the studio's microsoft was buying, they just cared because they were buying them and that A) something they hadn't been doing and B) it was all announced together. Even now people don't really care and are waiting for them to drop "big games" 2-3 years later.

Again what big IP property has MS purchased recently. You can only say bethesda stuff and they have a long working relationship like the companies you praise PS for...

And the way Sony locks out games with timed exclusives they don't need to acquire a lot of these studio's.

Deathloop would have been a prime example of a game that would have been locked out for a year that sony didn't need to "acquire" a studio for. Just so happens MS was in talks for a buy and it flipped that strategy on its head when it comes to revenue.

Sony and MS strats are the same when it comes to these company purchases, buy it before the next guy does if it fits :manny:

Xbox Game Studios - Wikipedia

Sony has acquired 11 and MS 17 With 16 of those only happening starting in 2018. Where as Sony has had 6 acquired studios by the time 2019 came around and acquiring 5 in the last 2 years.

microsoft bought zeni max and got 8 for 1. So in 2020/21 Microsoft bought 1 company and got 8 studios.

But lets act like MS is the one that has been buying up companies :mjlol: Sony on the other hand has been buying companies consistently since 2000
Build studios organically Sony stan brehs :mjlol:

Jim Ryan proud to have grown first-party studios 'organically'

Y’all leader stay talking out his ass. I see that’s where y’all get it from :mjlol:
If this studio's only game is funded by Sony then doesn't that qualify as them growing the studio organically?

They bought this studio faster than normal but Sony's strategy when it comes to buying studios is to fund a few of their games to see if they had potential before buying them. All of their studios had a history of working exclusively for sony for most of their existence before being bought.

First off this is a random rumor. Probably untrue.

And in the context of what he said, no this would not qualify as “growing organically”

His comments were specifically to try to paint Sony in a contrast to Microsoft as far as acquisitions go, but he somehow forgot Sony has been buying studios and exclusive content for decades.

Just console war fodder for the stans to eat it up
