Who cares, Xbox got Bethesda, double fine, obsidian, ninja theory and more. Your favorite PlayStation games were made by Xbox and the best of Xbox has not landed yet. But hey, a sequel to a game you played before is good enough along with these acquisitions. Yeah, y’all doing good. This thread is proof.

I’ll just go play one of a dozen new games on Gamepass :shaq2:

"All Sony does is buy up studio's"

And whats ironic about that statement is even without bethesda they haven’t acquired even half as much studios microsoft has in the last 3 years

Microsoft is pretty much Tencent and Embracer group status at this point

PlayStation Studios - Wikipedia

Sony has acquired 11 and MS 17 With 16 of those only happening starting in 2018. Where as Sony has had 6 acquired studios by the time 2019 came around and acquiring 5 in the last 2 years.

microsoft bought zeni max and got 8 for 1. So in 2020/21 Microsoft bought 1 company and got 8 studios.

But lets act like MS is the one that has been buying up companies :mjlol: Sony on the other hand has been buying companies consistently since 2000

What are you smoking. Since 2018, Microsoft have acquired….
  • Compulsion Games
  • Double Fine
  • InXile
  • Ninja Theory
  • Obsidian
  • Playground Games
  • Undead Labs
Most of these were 3rd party devs some even have sony exclusive games.

In the last 4 years game studios Sony acquired

  • Insomniac
  • Firesprite
  • Bluepoint
  • Housemarque
All studios that primarily developed games for sony, except for two games insomniac did. And 3 of those studios were this year. Which was most likely because they didn’t want them to get bought out by another company. Then add on buying an entire publisher…yeah, microsoft is pretty much competing with Tencent at this point

MS is playing catch up because they couldn’t develop their own studios in 16 years or put the studios they bought to good use. Epic and Bungie dipped on them and their replacements were mediocre.

Microsoft has only created 5 game studios on their own and one of them has yet to release a game. Sony has created 9 studios and bought 5 of them in their infancy.

Even studios they bought in the last few years were mostly developing and growing under their publishing; like insomniac that has been making ratchet and clank games for 20 years.

Every big studio sony has blew up after they bought them. Sony never ran out and bought studios for big IP, they created all of them

Which is what they would do for Ember Lab

The only "Big" sony studio of relevancy today is santa monica that they created, the rest they acquired and of those they acquired they have been the bread and butter for sony. Those studios have had years working on games be it on playstation or mulitplat . MS hasn't run out and bought a single big IP studio (yet) that they haven't had a working relationship with.

Most people couldn't tell you a single game from any studio they bought outside of beathesda who they have had a close working relationship with for decades.

The point is sony has been buying companies, and to be honest why or how they do it is irrelevant. It leads to the same thing, a console exclusive in the end. So MS would be foolish to let them slowly continue to do the same thing and be locked out of almost everything. They already struggle with 3rd parties in japan, them getting locked out of games else where out the world would be a major L

Santa Monica, Polyphony Digital, San Diego Studio

Also i doubt you could name any actual notable IP naughty dog made outside of crash bandicoot or any by Guerrilla Games, or bend, etc. None of those devs released major games until after being bought by Sony. The fact is Sony doesn’t buy devs for IP, they buy them for talent.

Microsoft has bought two major publishers and hasn’t really done anything significant with either of them so far. Working relationship means nothing when those games weren’t funded, marketed, or published by microsoft. None of those studios has the same relationship as the studios sony has with the studio they acquired which were mostly making games funded by them. You can’t name one of those acquired microsoft studios that didn’t realease almost the entirety of their games as multiplatform.

:unimpressed: Remember that when Sony does this it's organic™.

I know you’re joking but this is actuallly a good example of sonys acquisition strategy. So far Ember Lab has put out one game, that was funded and marketed by sony, if they buy them it would be a studio they are planning on building up. It has 15 employees. It would have 50 by the end of 2022 if they were bought out
