Baby steps, who's handling the actual printing and production of your designs? Are you getting reamed in that area?

This is the reason why I went through spreadshirt.

http://thebonesofhoudini.spreadshirt.com/shop/imprint

This online t-shirt shop operates from a platform provided by Spreadshirt. Spreadshirt is responsible for the technical functions of this shop and order processing.
An order from a Spreadshirt shop creates a contract for order production and delivery with Spreadshirt Inc. - not the Shop operator. All terms and conditions of Spreadshirt Inc. apply to use of the shop for these purposes and to those orders.

Basically when anybody orders an item off of my spreadshirt, the item is produced via order through the spreadshirt associated factories and print shops.

Since I don't have that type of capital to mass produce items and I really don't want to be out on my ass with more product than demand, setting up a spreadshirt was easier.

I had already been down the route of trying to start my own clothing brand with a little over a $1,000 dollars andsome designs. The design I had were too complex for most printers and the ones that could do it were people that charged so much I would barely see a return. The last thing I wanted to do was start a brand and have product only for it to sit in a store for months.

If you really serious, you should learn the process of screenprintig, if only to understand why some of the smaller shops may charge more to print your designs.

True. I've done screenprinting in the past. I screenprinted some t-shirts and blank skateboards back in 2006/2007.

The spreadshirt was a pet project that turned into something more. I was messing around with them and some of the designs are tweak of pre-existing designs from the spreadshirt bank. The garment price includes the price of the graphic (basically one can submit their own designs and make money off of them) and the labor/screen printing what not.

It's like this. I've made my own designs and use them, but I've seen designs on spreadshirt that I had to use. And because it costs money to use those designs, it's kind of like licensing those designs for the Bones of Houdini brand.

I don't even really make that much money off of it. Just commission.

The whole goal with the brand is to have items that appeal to different age ranges. I didn't want to typecast myself or my work as strictly for one type of demographic.

prices expensive

The most expensive item in this collection is $72.50 and that's a jacket.

I mean, it's all a matter of opinion. I wanted to make the price points somewhat affordable. I think it's cheap. Especially compared to brands like Pyrex Vision and Been Trill that charge $150-$250 for a hoodie printed on a champion blank.

My goal down the line is to have enough capital to open up a curated select goods store which will include discontinued items, prints, books, and other stuff.

As well, I would like to get a skate team together and make videos. No bones about it.
