So my work situation sucks, in non-gym days I get home around 7 so it's prolly 8 or a little later before I eat dinner. On gym days, I get home at 8, haven't added weights back which would get me home around 8:30 therefore I'm really stuck eating at 9pm or later. I go to bed at 11, this is all bad. I can't really pull the gym on the morning cuz I'm up at 5:45 to be on the road by 6:30...does it really matter if you eat late? Especiallyif you're working out? Should I just eat most my calories during the day and stick with shyt like salad, cereal, soup, or protein shakes for dinner? I hate my commute, it fukks up both sides of my day :bryan:

man your better eating most of your heavy meals later in the day when your body craves it. have a small breakfast and work out a second moderate meal after your workout and have a big dinner later on after fasting for a few hours

I workout in the morning. I woke up today at 11am

I work at night

I fast about 12-13hrs after I wake up and the only thing I had is water, and I'll rest and eat when I get home

LOok up intermediate fasting it might be for you like it is for me

I think about it as calories in and calories out and not as much about insulin spikes, blood sugar drops and whatnot. That would stress me out and it is hard enough being committed to routinely eating well and working out.

My thoughts on eating late (for me) is that it is cool as long as you aren't eating a huge meal right before going to sleep, where you lie down feeling stuffed (that blissful itis). If you eat dinner at 9, move around and go to sleep a couple of hours later, that still gives your body time to digest. I avoid sugar at night and extra starchy things for dinner cause it makes me hangry in the morning. This is just how I feel. Maybe the bro-science nerds have a different theory.

Lean protein and leafy greens at dinner. Talapia on some sauteed Kale :blessed:

Whoever suggested IF could be on to something as well.

eating late is an issue ive had to deal with for like 5 years...i get out of work by 6 im in the gym by 6:45 and im out between 9:30-10 at night...only in the last year has eating heavy after the gym been detrimental as it made me gain weight which had been hard to take off..slowing metabolism in your 30s sucks:thumbsdown:...so starting in jan on my gym days i only drink a protein shake and 2 peanut butter sandwiches on wheat when i come back from the gym..stomach used to be rumbling with hunger but small portions was key...dropped a lot weight because of it and now my body is used to it:thumbsup:

Eating late isn't bad, may help you sleep better, and can offer a better morning workout.

I wake up in the am and im hungry off top. But I go straight to the gym. After bout 30min in the gym, I'm getting hunger pains. I cant imagine coming home and not eating for 12 more hrs.

i aint into that intermittent fasting, like someone else said, i'd prolly binge if i did that. i've always been a breakfast/lunch person, i actually hate dinner and would rather snack, but i'm trying to be more balanced without going to my other extreme where i tend to undereat and make no progress.

Actually IF could still work, it's just a question of what 8 hours. If you wanted to eat breakfast you could go 8AM to 4PM and just do all of the calories then since you aren't tied to eating dinner:

Decent breakfast
Bigger lunch
Lighter before working out
Cheat a little and do a shake on the night post workout

what's the point of IF? seems counter-intuitive to traditional advice. is this the new fitness wave? swear to god ppl need to stop coming up with new shyt...no fat, no carbs, paleo, 1-2-3, a-b-c....why can't a bytch eat when she's hungry :damn:

Just an eating protocol that helps some people manage diet better, no more no less.

I personally hate breakfast so waiting a few ours allows me to eat more in a compact time without feeling hungry all day.

It does go against tradtional advice but there are studies that prove that advice isn't bullet proof.

I think your answered your question yourself. Just eat bigger during the day and go lighter at night.

Actually, if your daily caloric intake is 2000 calories a day, regardless of when you eat it, it doesn't matter. Even though you are sleeping after eating, if your metabolism stays the same and you are burning the same calories, scientist have debunked the night-eating myth.

But if you find that your caloric intake is higher when eating heavy at night, then that will make a difference.
