:eat: Killzone 4 releasing for PS4 this year

Killzone 4 will release later this year on Sony's next-generation PlayStation, an industry source has told VideoGamer.com.

The unannounced game, which our source claims is currently in development at Guerrilla Games, could be revealed during PlayStation Meeting on February 20, where Sony is expected to unveil PlayStation 4.

Sony has tended to announce new games in Guerrilla's shooter series alongside its hardware reveals.

The platform holder released a trailer for Killzone 2 during the announcement of PlayStation 3 - something which was later criticised for being a "target render" rather than a true example of the console's capabilities.

It also confirmed that a Killzone title was in development for PlayStation Vita at the time of the handheld's announcement.

Our source's comments suggest that Killzone 4 could be a launch window title for the unannounced hardware, which is rumoured to go on sale by the end of 2013.

Guerrilla Games' latest release was Killzone 3, which released on PlayStation 3 in 2011. In addition to Killzone 4, the developer is known to be working on a new IP.

SCEE declined to comment when contacted by VideoGamer.com.

It's only three KZ games why wouldn't y'all want more? There's like 8 halo games out and nikkas ain't complaining. I'm WAY more hyped for a new Killzone than any other FPS. It's not like there's a bunch of killzone games out.

nikka there will be 7 in fact one is already coming out on the vita this year, the franchise needs to be put to rest for a bit. New ips should be for launch day not 4-5-6-7s ..

hate FPS games. I tried Killzone 2 and even gave 3 a shot. I just can't stand FPS.

Not my type of games. Same reason why i don't play COD, Battlefield...etc.

Killzone is a respectable franchise.

Killzone 2 has the GOAT level design of any console shooter that I've played, and it was rated as a AAA game across the board.

That game was a classic and a technical masterpiece.

YOU casual nikkas whined about the controls on that marvelous game and they released Killzone 3:COD Edition for you and that game was a huge let down and step back from 2.

I'm not overly excited about this announcement because the last game was one of my most disappointing experiences of this gen. Even with that said, if they go back to the roots with it and build off of what Killzone 2 had going on the game will be good.
