it boggles my mind how so many people don't get this. TRAINING MATTERS. putting in the work. time in the gym, specifically to fight. the sparring, the experience in the ring/cage, etc.

you can't replace it. jake had a lot more, on all levels.

Boxing is a skill sport. No one would be surprised if someone who picked up a basketball a year ago would be washed by someone who played it casually over the years.

Seeing Nate attempting to box was painful. He didn't know what he was doing out there.

I don't see any shame in losing to a guy who can actually fight. I thought Nate was gonna wash Jake too at first because I thought he was an amateur, but once I started finding out about Jake and seeing the links of him sparring and fighting, I knew he was gonna dogwalk Nate. Rule of thumb is, if someone has some years of experience in something and you're just starting out, there's a great chance they'll fukk you up in it competitively. Right now the Dunning Krueger effect is running wild on all these people talking shyt and making memes; nikkas don't even know enough to know that they don't know enough.

Nate is one of a very few NBA players who doesn't look awkward outside of basketball. Basketball players, in general, have some of the least amounts of translational ability (to other sports) largely because of how they're built.

As bad as Nate looked, someone like Ingram would look even worse. Replace Nate with Jrue or Westbrook and that bout would've ended the same.

Nates biggest problem was who he had in his corner.

Conditioning is one thing.. Nate was in great shape. But dude had no real stance, no discipline, and no gameplan. Rush and hold while throwing a jab was all he had. The first knockdown was behind the head imo, the next 2 was because dude didn’t spar against anyone of credibility before that.

Even Deji sparred his brother and Viddal (another pro) multiple times before he fought Jake. Jake been sparring cats with more experience for almost 2 years and Nate looked like he never stepped inside a ring before
