so even if its just beats?....lets say you create a beat and somebody jacks it. but you got your shyt copywritten and registered under BMI. what type of money would you be lookin at off a lawsuit?
and what about if the beat they stole is sampled?....are you pretty much fukked?
Im in no way an expert. I would imagine if the beat contains copy written samples that haven't been cleared there isn't a single thing you could do about someone making a track with your beat. I'm sure that the owner of the sample could shut down the song, but unless there's proof of financial gain, even they couldn't do much about it legally.
If you are making original beats and uploading then online then yes, you can definitely collect royalties for advertising. I'm telling you, if you are serious about your music, beats or entire songs, DO NOT upload them without being registered properly.
