The video game market is consolidating like never before, and Electronic Arts is scrambling like everyone else. The Battlefield and FIFA maker recently pursued a merger with NBCUniversal, and also held potential acquisition talks with Disney, Apple, and other companies, according to a new report by Puck. While a deal isn’t currently in the works, it doesn’t sound like EA plans to give up anytime soon.

I could see Amazon, Facebook, or Google getting them. Microsoft isn’t gonna do it while the Activision deal is being reviewed, Sony and Nintendo aren’t gonna spend the money. I’m not sure if I see Tencent or Embracer getting them but who knows.

Add them to the pile of companies seeking a buyout/merger.

The reason EA wouldn’t be as valuable as Activision is because a lot of their big games are tied to license deals like that. Same with their Star Wars games. They got a lot of other valuable IP though, like Apex, Battlefield, Mass Effect, Néed For Speed, Dragon Age, etc.

Even The Sims would be super valuable with the metaverse stuff happening

To be honest FIFA only have rights to international football. They could easily make deals with the biggest leagues individually and still make the game.

it will be interesting to see if soccer fans follow the name or the franchise.

realistically, all FIFA has to do is make a better game than EA and it won't make a big difference to fans. It will just be like EA made a better game for them
