The CW is rebooting the hit 1980s prime time soap opera Dynasty that aired on ABC from January 12, 1981 to May 11, 1989. The modernized reboot follows two of America’s wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children, amid all the glitz and glamour that comes with being part of the richest of the 1%, while exposing the dark underbelly: a corrupt world built on backroom deals, betrayal and, in some cases, murder.
Cast in the reboot of note are Sam Adegoke (as a lead) and Robert Christopher Riley (as a series regular) opposite Natalie Kelley and Elizabeth Gillies who play the central characters.
Adegoke will play the charming Jeff Colby, who is described as a billionaire tech guru who fought his way up from humble beginnings and is now a rival of the Carrington’s company, who is currently in a bidding war with them over a huge sports franchise. Jeff attended high school with Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies), and there’s always been a flirtatious spark between the two. And when Fallon finally tires of her father’s double-dealing, Jeff might offer her an easy route to revenge.
Meanwhile series regular Robert Christopher Riley will play Culhane, the Carrington family’s well-paid chauffeur.
“Dynasty” the CW reboot, is co-written by “Gossip Girl” creators Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Sallie Patrick.
