I think he gets a bit too much of the blame. I mean, the bolded could apply to Les Miles (even if he got to another NC game and was scared to throw the ball). Couldn't recruit like Butch. Matter of fact, I don't think anyone they've hired since can. Shannon had that one year but besides that, nothing but trash.

Ron Zook comes to mine but at least he could recruit and it didn't set them back too far when ole Urban Liar got there
Lane Kiffin (but see Zook)
Randy Edsall don't count @mastermind
For trolling purposes, Gus Malzahn
Frank Beamer (don't even ask me how)
Turner Gill
Maryland AD killed that program not Edsall

Should have kept Fridge

Weakest ACC in history:stopitslime:
and the Big12 was a bastion of strength the year Kansas DIDNT WIN the conference? :steviej:
Never should have gotten to that point but either way works. Two bad decisions..............
Firing Fat Boy Maryland was the right decision. They fukked up in replacing him. Fat Boy had done about as good as he could.

I think Maryland had an over inflated view of what thy could/should be. Let's be reality, Franklin has been totally lights out to this point.

yeah, and we shoulda hired Franklin. Thats the point @lucky lefty made.

I dont know what view we had either since we hired a coach who won more than 7 games just once in Edsall. It was just a terrible process.

I meant hasn't been lights out. Personal opinion is that his results may have not been better than Fridge.

That said, I won't argue with someone that follows the program closely. That's just my outside view.

Franklin turned Vanderbilt into a good program in the SEC after being perennial bottom feeders. He a good coach and may have done better.

He also kicking Maryland's ass in recruiting in the state.
