I don't use the word "cac" but this right here is bullshyt. Reddit is a hub of racist, misogynist, homophobic activity. They have sub reddits that are pro pedophile for fukks sake yet still get mainstream attention and celebs popping in to answer questions.
Bro it's not bullshyt. I've been going on Reddit before thecoli was a twinkle in cook and Brooks eyes. Yes what you said might be true but it's different from thecoli for a number of reasons.
1. Thecoli is organized from the top to bottom. Reddit is organized from the bottom up. Anyone can make a subreddit and organize people to join. Thecoli has only a handful of subforums and each mod is given thier power from the admins. That's the only reason why the Donald Trump subreddit for example can exist. Even though the people that founded reddit and are running it are liberal, maybe even to the far left. Alexis the most known founder is super liberal and married to Serena and a few years ago they hired Ellen Pao who is from around my way and married to a breh. Snoop also is a minority owner.
So those subreddits that you speak of are outcast subreddits (if theyre even still around) that are always at odds with the Reddit management, other redditors, and other subreddits. The Donald Trump subreddit for instance is always accusing the Reddit staff of working against them.
2. The
on Reddit is very different from the bullshyt militancy on thecoli. I'll give you two examples.
- I'm a pretty big MMA fan, its pretty much the only sport I follow and I get my MMA news from r/MMA. If any of you follow MMA, you know it's heavily . It's pretty common for black fighters to be hated on with the exception of like Demetrius Johnson and Daniel Cormier (and a few others) but you can never point your finger and say it's racism. If they say they hate a black fighter there's always another reason i.e. fake, boring, fukked up person, or a new word I've seen in the last few months "cringe". They also used code words that subtely dismiss the skillset of a lot of black fighters. If a black fighter has a chance at winning it's because he's "explosive". There are other example to but something you will never see on r/MMA is "yeah he beat his black ass!" Or "cant stand that ******" the way some of you will say "whoop that cac"! If someone was to say ****** on r/MMA They would get downvoted and maybe even banned from the subreddit. Do I think they're racists in that subreddit, yeah but THEYRE ON CODE.
- Another example is the Donald Trump subreddit the_donald which I mentioned before. That is pretty much the bastion of conservatives and the alt right and not even they use racial epithets like thecoli!
3. When Reddit started it was a very liberal site. It still is very liberal but it was even more back then. It was mostly young corny, self depricating guys who either worked in IT or went to school. There was constant jokes about how we really should be doing work but were here on Reddit. Reddit was also very self aware. Back then I can't remember any racism. The first time I remember actual racism toward black people, it was a vid of some breh yelling at people on a bus in Korea and the comments were wild. Another time I remember racism was of course after Trayvon and I was so mad I didn't go back on Reddit for a long time.
4. Reddit is massive. Its one of the most popular sites online with millions of hits daily. To find a thread/subreddit with rampant outright racism you're gonna have to pretty much look for it. Thecoli is tiny in comparison to the point where we actually know each other's business. Many of us know where at least a few other posters are from and aspects of thier personal lives. Some posters can even tell when another poster is using an alt username by the posting style! It's hard to really say Reddit has a culture because it's so vast and made up of different places that don't fukk with each other. I've been on Reddit for years and I'm sitting here hard pressed to think of another user by username that's not a celebrity. I can only think of maybe one or two. Meanwhile I can easily name about two dozen users on thecoli and some facts about them.
