I remember going to see Blade 3 like it was yesterday. Da first 15 minutes was good, then it ran COMPLETELY off da tracks. Tha part when those vampires was holding a video camera recording Blade kill those fake vampires was when it took a nosedive. Dracula was trash. Ryan Reynolds as a normal human going head up with a vampire HHH was bullshyt. The vampire dogs, Whistlers dumb ass death scene, Blades serum being converted into an inhaler. The stupid ending of Blade riding away on that motorcycle. Jessica Biel’s dumbass Bow n Arrow. Jessica Biel being more distraught over Natasha Lyons dying than Whistler dying. The shakey camera fight scenes.

Dracula running for like 15 minutes in that shyt.

Like I said other thread, cacs are always trying to blame Wesley for Blade Travesty, but never address why he was uncooperative:mjpls:

Mothafukkas act like he was supposed to take getting sidelined in his own franchise with stride:what:

Exactly Goyer should be the blame, he and Reynolds trying to make the movie more funny and appeal to the MTV crowd ruined it. That was one of Snipes main issues, that wasn't the movie he signed on to do. But once it flopped they trying to use Snipes as the fall guy like Colt Seavers. They blame the method acting thing, but Snipes did the same thing with Blade 1 & 2 but it wasn't an issue then because both of the them movies were successful.

AVC: Well, the second Blade movie is great.

PO: Yeah, the first Blade is fukking genius. That, more than anything, is what really put forth the idea of vampires as exclusive, high-tier night-clubbers who are young and beautiful forever. They took that idea done clumsily in Lost Boys and really made it amazing.

The first Blade was great BECAUSE of Snipes, and what he demanded. How are you going to recapture that greatness by shytting on everything that made it great?

This shyt reminds me of the shytting on Avery Brooks for DS9.

Patton Oswalt's interview with AV Club about working on Blade TRinity made that production sound insane:

Blade: Trinity (2004)—“Hedges”
PO:
Oh, Christ. That was the third Blade movie. And there’s a scene where Blade goes in and confronts this guy for harvesting humans. That scene was supposed to be the whole basis of the film. Blade is fighting for the last shred of humanity. But they thought that it was just so fukking grim, so they decided to just have Blade fighting Dracula. It was just one of those; it was a very troubled production. Wesley [Snipes] was just fukking crazy in a hilarious way. He wouldn’t come out of his trailer, and he would smoke weed all day. Which is fine with me, because I had all these DVDs that I wanted to catch up on. We were in Vancouver, and it was always raining. I kept the door to my trailer open to smell the evening rain while I was watching a movie. Then I remember one day on the set—they let everyone pick their own clothes—there was one black actor who was also kind of a club kid. And he wore this shirt with the word “Garbage” on it in big stylish letters. It was his shirt. And Wesley came down to the set, which he only did for close-ups. Everything else was done by his stand-in. I only did one scene with him. But he comes on and goes, “There’s only one other black guy in the movie, and you make him wear a shirt that says ‘Garbage?’ You racist motherfukker!”

And he tried to strangle the director, David Goyer. So later that night, Ron Perlman was in the city. Everyone who makes movies in Vancouver stays in the same hotel. It’s like an episode of The Love Boat. Every time the elevator stops, you’ve got a different celebrity getting on. Like, [announcer voice] “Hey, now we’ve got Danny Glover!” So we went out that night to some strip club, and we were all drinking. And there were a bunch of bikers there, so David says to them, “I’ll pay for all your drinks if you show up to set tomorrow and pretend to be my security.” Wesley freaked out and went back to his trailer. [Laughs.] And the next day, Wesley sat down with David and was like, “I think you need to quit. You’re detrimental to this movie.” And David was like, “Why don’t you quit? We’ve got all your close-ups, and we could shoot the rest with your stand-in.” And that freaked Wesley out so much that, for the rest of the production, he would only communicate with the director through Post-it notes. And he would sign each Post-it note “From Blade.” [Laughs.]

AVC: There’s a rumor that he tried to stay in character the entire shoot.

PO: Oh yeah, he did. When I met him I was like, “Hi!” And he was like, “I’m Blade.” And also, Natasha Lyonne was on that set, and she was going through some kind of mental breakdown. Wesley is all boundaries, and she has no boundaries. She played a blind computer expert. So the first scene they had together, she put her hand right on his face, and he just recoiled. It was awesome.

AVC: If you were trying to be in character all the time as a vampire killer, being high all the time might not help.

PO: A lot of the lines that Ryan Reynolds has were just a result of Wesley not being there. We would all just think of things for him to say and then cut to Wesley’s face not doing anything because that’s all we could get from him. It was kind of funny. We were like, “What are the worst jokes and puns that we can say to this guy?” And then it would just be his face going, “Mmm.” “Smiles are contagious.” It’s so, so dumb. [Laughs.] That was an example of a very troubled shoot that we made fun. You have to find a way to make it fun.

AVC: In a weird sort of way, it sounds like Wesley Snipes united the production against himself. Everyone had a common enemy.

PO: Everyone was just like, “This is going to be such a great story.” I’m in this business for two reasons: the money and the anecdotes. That’s all I want. I either want to do the best films or the fukking worst films. I don’t want to do the “eh” film.

I ask if I can read him a quote about his behaviour on the set of Blade: Trinity to see if he thinks it is fair. “Yes, yes, yes, which one is this?” It’s from the actor and comedian Patton Oswalt, I say. “A reliable authority on me,” he replies sarcastically.

I read the quote: “Wesley was just fukking crazy in a hilarious way … he tried to strangle [director] David Goyer.”

“Let me tell you one thing. If I had tried to strangle David Goyer, you probably wouldn’t be talking to me now. A black guy with muscles strangling the director of a movie is going to jail, I guarantee you.”

So that’s a no, then? “Did I go to jail for strangling him? Never happened.”

I continue with the quote. “For the rest of the production he would only communicate through Post-it notes. And he would sign each Post-it note ‘From Blade’.” True or not? “Hehehe!” He starts giggling, but he’s not amused. “Once again, Mr Oswalt is the authority. Hohoho! Why do people believe this guy’s version of this story? Answer me that.”

I’m not saying I believe it, I say. I’m simply asking if you think it’s fair. Now his voice is calm and professorial. “This is part of the challenges that we as African Americans face here in America – these microaggressions. The presumption that one white guy can make a statement and that statement stands as true! Why would people believe his version is true? Because they are predisposed to believing the black guy is always the problem. And all it takes is one person, Mr Oswalt, who I really don’t know. I can barely remember him on the set, but it’s fascinating that his statement alone was enough to make people go: ‘Yeah, you know Snipes has got a problem.’”

And still he’s not done. “I remind you that I was one of the executive producers of the project,” he says. “I had contractual director approval. I was not just the actor for hire. I had au-thor-i-ty to say, to dictate, to decide. This was a hard concept for a lot of people to wrap their heads around.”

The problem is, Snipes says, that Hollywood is still run by white people for white people. “I don’t expect a white guy to go out and write the experience of a black guy growing up in the Bronx the way I grew up. How is he going to know that?” And that’s why he says black artists should follow the example of film-makers in, for example, South Korea or Nigeria. “The South Koreans are not sitting there complaining about not being included in Hollywood. They went and built their own. The Nigerians are not waiting for Hollywood to come along; they’ve got the third largest industry in the world.”

the DVD commentary for it is funny as hell too, Goyer, Reynolds and Biel just threw subs @ Wesley the whole time and made it out like he was a diva on set. It was more entertaining than the movie.

That wasn't the case if you listen to the commentary tracks for Blade 1 & 2 with Goyer and Snipes. They both sounded like they had a good relationship from the interactions between the two. Goyer would actually praise Snipes on many occasions during the commentaries.

The method actor thing was never an issue on the first two movies either until Blade Tragedy came out and the movie didn't do well. So they had to throw Snipes under the bus for it with the ultimate blackball, while Goyer and Reynolds get unlimited chances even after multiple failures.
