Good points. Completely forgot about that other bar. That would probably be the best of both worlds.

My leg days usually consist of deadlifts, squats (I rotate which one to go heavy on, so i hit each exercise heavy once per week), farmer walks and swings.

How heavy you doing swings? No way would I be able to swing after deadlifting, I try and stick to 20 rep max weight on swings even though doing super high reps with lower weight is the best HIIT workout I have found yet

I don't feel swings anywhere in my body other than my posterior chain though, I am really driving the hips and avoiding any squatting motion. That is why deadlifts are a no-go for me in combination

I only have a 45lb kettle bell at home, and i think that's all they have at the gym (there may be heavier ones). I should go heavier for fewer reps (at least once a week). I'll try that next leg day.

Agree that if I was deadlifting at my 3 rep max for a few sets, I'd have to cut something out of the leg day.

OK, yeah that makes sense then.

My gym only has 30 lb kettlebells so I had to switch to dumbells to go low rep. I'd rather use kettlebells just for the feel factor, but the low weight just doesn't fit my needs.

Do you use these to replace deads....as in are they just as effective for strenght gain or just as an alternative if you can't do deads
They are more comparable to cleans than deads. They hit the same muscles but they do not destroy your soul like deads.

Sorry for the delayed bump ...

I did deadlifts with the hex bar today.

It felt pretty good. Still not going super heavy (5x5 with 265). I think these might be more comparable to a squat than a deadlift.

The only thing is that the handles on the bar take about 2 inches off the range of motion. I saw at the end that i could flip the bar and not use the handles, but I was smoked by that time, so I didn't try it today.

I think these could be ok ... today I coupled them with straight leg deadlifts (whatever those are called), but went light/high rep with those.
