I forget which Euro philosopher said it. Might’ve been Hume or someone but the philosopher said that racism is a form of cohesion for European and Eurocentric society. The hatred of Africans and Afro-diasporic peoples particularly has been a strong way to unify the white cultures historically. The current division is rooted in some whites trying to do the right thing while others want to hate black people due to their own insecurities.
American Society could rupture. A country built of genocide, slavery and imperialism was bound to return to violence. Especially over the intense and ever lingering debate amongst whites about whether black Americans are truly deserving of the full rights that come with being an American.
