Broken eye socket AND nerve damage for Dubois

Things like this make you question his corner. They knew what shape that eye was in and probably should have pulled him out or thrown the towel in to save him the embarrassment of having to quit.

This is why I cant really be mad at him for quitting - with that last jab he knew he was probably a few more jabs away from potentially having a career ending eye injury. He's only 23 with his whole career ahead of him, it's a loss he can come back from. Why stay in there and risk your career?

Just watched it. Had no idea Joe Joyce was half Nigerian. Saw the Naija flag on his trunks. :ohhh:

Looking at the headlines I thought DD got mopped up by Joyce. He acquitted himself quite well for being the more inexperienced fighter. He needs to retool a bit. First he needs to start by dropping serious weight. This fight should be a lesson that power alone is not enough to take down some of the bigger fighters. He needs to be more elusive and fight with speed, and less focus on knockouts. He has a very good jab. He needs to follow that up with combination punching and movement.

Joyce is a slow fighter, but he has a SOLID chin; probably one of the best in the whole division.

Yeah it was a back and forth fight Dubois just couldn’t get out the way of that jab

Just saw the difference between a fighter who's actually fought some half decent/tricky opponents and one who's steamrolled some bums.

Dubois has plenty of time. Needs some tests though, needs to fight different kinds of fighters.

Big Joe won't worry the best HW's but he could be a real test for some of that 2nd tier of HW's just with his size and boulder of a head that can take shots. He used his jab so well last night.

Tyson at 54 is way faster than Joyce sheesh. Never saw dude fight but some of his 1-2 were ludicrously like he was under water. But for that jab to do damage from round 1 in, dude must have some serious momentum going on with the weight transfer on his punches. I thought Dubois was better and landed the far cleaner punches but I guess slow and steady wins the race :ehh:

Dude is super undeveloped and needs a few years of proper training/boxing to bounce back, if he even has fight in him anymore
I dont think I saw him feint once :snoop: His corner failed him and probably under estimated Joyce chin But he's young and he can bouce back if the damage on his eye heals well even though a broken eye socket at HW feels like a career ender. All the top dudes have heavy right hands and they'll target it relentlessly.
