Thats an opinion, not a fact, learn the difference.
Its hard to even say Nirvana is the most influential of the alt rock groups to be honest, I'd say a The Replacements created the genre and have a far more greater legacy because without them there is no Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, or Smashing Pumpkins. Hell I'd say Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam have a greater musical legacy than Nirvana. I'd be willing to argue those assertions, but those are opinions, not objective fact.
Are you serious?
So, you're gonna deny that "Nevermind" is listed near the top of damn near every industry magazine's greatest albums of all-time list?
Or that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is almost always called the song that single handedly ended hair metal and brought grunge/alt-rock to the mainstream?
The Replacement sold like 20 albums and neither the Pumpkins or Pearl Jam have a record as highly regarded by Rolling Stone, Spin, Village Voice, etc and most notable magazines as "Nevermind" is.
The day Cobain died is seen as the day that "grunge" died for fukks sake.
I like those other bands, but Nirvana is by far more highly regarded, bruh
Again you don't seem to know the difference between objective fact and subjective opinion. Magazines and greatests artists and album lists are subjective opinion, not fact.
As for the Replacements, the fact that you couldn't even address the argument about influence tells me all I need to know. Hard to say Pearl Jam wasn't highly regarded when they were the 2nd big grunge band and they were outselling Nirvana when Kurt was alive debut and sophmore album head to head. Hard to say Pumpkins wasn't recoginzed as a influential band when they were one of the highest selling bands of the 90s, Billy Corgan was called a genius, and all the other accolades they got.
Nirvana being superior is your opinion.
Yeah you're simply repeating yourself.I didn't argue that nirvana was superior.
That WOULD be subjective.
I argued that virtually everybody SEES them as superior.
That is a fact based on virtually every rock critic, magazine, and music outlet that judges those types of things, just like most people see The Beatles as superior to say R.E.O Speedwagon or something. Yeah, it's subjective, but it's really isn't
And no, I didn't address the Replacements, because The Replacements weren't as influential as The Pixies or R.E.M. who both had WAYYYYY more to do with the alternative rock movement than The Replacements.
Hell, Kurt Cobain himself was a Pixies stan, so was Billy Corgan, and Radiohead.
All of them stole the soft/loud/soft thing.
Hell, all of them admit they stole that from The Pixies.
I like Pearl Jam & The Pumpkins. Soundgarden & Alice in Chains too. All of em great, great bands, but Nirvana is considered a legacy band moreso than those other bands are.
Yeah you're simply repeating yourself.
I've already backed my assertion and you've yet to understand all the things you point to are still subjective opinon.
That said agree to disagree.
Yeah two opinions.Not really.
Nirvana is seen by most as the superior band. That's not subject to opinion
"Nevermind" is seen as the superior album of that era. That's not subject to opinion
Yeah two opinions.
Kurt beefed with Axl Rose for putting the n word in a song. Kurt liked nwa. So you do the math brehI wonder did kurt like us
