So then the next big star is gonna be a nikka that nobody will see coming. Thus making this entire conversation worthless.

Think about what you just said. :mjlol:

WHEN DID I SAY
PLAYER X SHOULD BE
THE NEXT FACE OF THE LEAGUE IDIOT?

Disagree

Cade is good

Ant is good

Zion

Ja

Yes they all have some issues

But it comes down to not wanting to have your life picked apart
None of theses dudes are likeable. Zion was on track to be that dude, but threw it all away. The same with JA who's still testing Silver & the league. Cade could break out with a nice post season coming up against the Knicks. Ant is a star, but seemingly a scumbag at the same time with his off court drama. Melo in Charlotte can't even be the face of his team. Always injured, massive losses, and cursing in all his post game interviews.

Let's just cut to the chase.. will a FBA player get that league push again after Bron & Curry retire? I believe this is an actual topic taking place discussion within the league. I get it, everybody now just wants the money and not the extras from the media. Not everybody can face the fire year in and year out like LeBron for 22 years. But If Flagg is legit, don't be surprised if he gets that push along with one or two Europeans.

These dudes see the unwanted attention and expectations the “face of the league” brings and they want no parts of that circus, and who can blame them. They can still collect their max contracts and sign their endorsements without that irrelevant title.

No one sees the benefits of it

I don’t blame them

All you will get is the older players going on pod cast saying the 90’s was better and you not shyt because we can’t close line you like back in the days

“Go try a lay up with us and you get”

“You soft”

These guys have no personality, they are not disciplined (sexually, emotionally, etc), they don't have good business teams around them, etc. It takes a massive level of patience and discipline to be Bron. To have the insight to get your homies qualified to eventually become major members of your team. To map out exactly what you want and what brands you want to work with. And to largely avoid off-the-court controversy in terms of sexual shyt, fukkery, etc. We're seeing it now with Jalen Hurts...this shyt isn't easy but when you get it right and win? You become the fukking man.

I agree nobody wants to deal with SAS being a POS but lets be real: if you are a noteworthy black athlete in the NBA you're gonna become a target for SAS at some point in the year. Being the face or not being the face doesn't really matter when it comes to giving the (white) audience what they want: nonstop tearing down and belittling of black athletes. Best believe that if the Pistons lose to the Knicks, SAS will be on ESPN declaring Cade a fraud who isn't ready for prime time. That type of weird obsession with tearing down stars exists and it doesn't matter if you're the next huge face or not.

Oh you see it.

As long as Flagg doesn't shyt the bed, they gonna turn that nikka into Captain America :mjlol:

And from what I can tell, he'd gladly accept without throwing imaginary grenades at the fans or being a blatant scumbag while we complain about them propping up a white boy. They're gonna try their damnedest to make that work.

It still all comes down to these guys not loving the game. First off, they can't decide if they become the face of the league. Who do the people gravitate toward...for whatever reason...then, who will the league put the resources behind. That's the face of the league.

Also, while winning does help and come with its own scrutiny, being one of the best players in your craft alone brings you scrutiny. People want to see you rise, until you do, then they want to see you fall, until you do...then they want to see how you respond to falling.

Now, it comes back to if you want to be one of the best in your craft. All leagues need ambassador(s) in order to thrive. If you have the talent, and don't want to be one of the best, do you really love the game?

SAS has good things to say about Ant every time I see him speak on him just about.

If he gave him a reason, besides his play to talk him up he'd do it. If someone comes along, is respectful to past eras, earnest in their pursuit of greatness and love of the game, SAS and other media would get behind them.

You become the face of the league by consistently winning and producing in the process. There's different teams in the Finals every year.

Boston's the closest to staying in the mix but Tatum's been erratic in the postseason.
