It does not specify whether to calc part c using your answer from part b vs. the original #.

There is nothing wrong with how the question was structured. IF the prior questions had been multiple choice, then yes, those saying it's poorly constructed would have a point. However, that wasn't the case. When it's set up like that, you answer A, B, and then C. In that order. It's really as simple as putting the answer next to the corresponding letter/question.
