gave the tape a listen at the gym
So its good. a 7.0/10 for me
Production is A+. Metro Boomin snapped on this and is becoming what Mike Will was last year. I think he needs some more diversity in his sound but otherwise Id put him as a TOP 3 current guy right now.
Future is oddly at his best. Im still new to his stuff and ive never been impressed by him, but on this tape? He's the most tolerable he's ever been to me. He's rapping a lot more and his mumbling isn't nearly as bad. Plus I think working with a more "focused" artist like Drake really brought out the best in him.
My problems with the tape? Its Drake. The whole album is Drake doing his best Future impression. Which isnt a bad thing if its was yknow Future FEATURING DRAKE. But a collabo is supposed to be both artists bringing their respective skill and specialty. Through most of the tape I expected Drake to GO IN on some of the beats.
But NOPE.
Drakes part starts, he's rapping and/or yelping on that Migos/Future wannabe flow.
And maybe thats where Drake is now. Maybe he's all about sounding like who he's currently collabing with now. It says alot that Drake was at his best on this tape when he was channeling the introspective spitter we know he is with the "30 for 30" freestyle.
Even so for what the tape is, its solid party/whip music.
Standout tracks to me: Digital Dash, Live From the Gutter, 30 for 30, Plastic Bag
Trash: Jumpman (I don't know what yall see in it, its trash to me), Diamonds Dancing (a bit overproduced and the last 1:00 is just drake in his feelings
