I disagree.
If all you listen to is a certain type of hip hop, particularly crime-related, then maybe. But crime-related hip hop with nikkas grunting about work, gangs and bytches isn't the entirety of hip hop culture. It's a subsection. A very important one, but a subsection nonetheless.
Hip hop has many angles (pop rap included). And if you're one of the best in your type of hip hop, then you're automatically doper than someone who's just mediocre at a different type, even if that type is well respected.
e.g. Nelly. Nelly is a way better hip hop artist than Freddie Gibbs and Schoolboy Q. it's not even close. Just because Nelly has always been on that pop rap tip doesn't mean he doesn't have classic songs. If Freddie Gibbs and Q were as dope as say... Mobb Deep or Scarface, then I'd say Freddie/Mobb Deep/Scarface > Nelly/Drake. See what I mean? Ultimately, real, transcendent music trumps poppy shyt. But you have to be at a certain level before that happens. Freddie and Q aren't at that level, nor are they close.
Drake wins
