:noah: please don't retire

Young Money star Drake may be following in Lil Wayne's foot steps by hinting at plans to possibly hang up the microphone for good once he enters his 30s.

Although Drizzy didn't note a specific age, he did say that senior citizen rap status is something he would like to avoid.

"I personally think that when I find that person and when it is est@blished we are going to enter a serious relationship--I mean I don't even know if I'll still be making rap music. I don't know how long I necessarily want to make rap music for. You know, there are artists who are 35 and up that still make rap and that still works for them. I don't know if I want to be that guy. A lot of my music is about being young and figuring it all out. I don't know if I can still make my brand of music when I am up there. Maybe I'll be just acting or whatever it is. I plan to make as much music as I can until a story from Drake doesn't impact you as it used to." (i-D Magazine)

Last month, Cash Money Records CEO Birdman addressed Drizzy's labelmate, Nicki Minaj, potentially retiring in the near future.

"That's her choice, her decision. I don't think Nicki is ready to retire. She really just started. I don't see that in the near future for her at all right now," he said in an interview. "I like young boy Chief [Keef]. I think he's a great young talent. I sent my hand out to him. We'll see what happens." (Complex)

A week prior, Minaj hinted at a possible early departure from the rap game.

"People aren't even giving the kid props for taking it back to the essence... this is my fourth mixtape really," said Minaj, referring to her latest LP, Pink Friday ... Roman Reloaded. "You know what I'm saying. The kid did like that so she could feed her fans. But really, now the kid is thinking maybe she should leave the game." "They ungrateful," Nicki's right-hand man Safaree chimed in. "They ungrateful in these streets." (XXL Mag)

Last summer, Lil Wayne spoke on hanging up the mic sooner rather than later.

"I'm not sure; I'm not gonna Brett Favre y'all," Wayne said referring to the former Green Bay Packers quarterback who finally handed the NFL his walking papers in January after years of talking about it. "I'm not gonna draw it all the way out the whole year: 'We wondering, is Wayne gonna do this?' But the honest answer is I don't know...I'm so settled in my life right now. I have my kids; they're wonderful. My daughter has her career ahead of her now. I have to focus on that, and I have to put the same focus that I put in my career." (MTV)

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
So basically he knows he's a fad?

some artists are only inspired by certain things and some artists have a certain niche. At Drakes current career path he could very well attain everything as a rapper by the time he's in his mid 30's. By time time what are his options? He can't rap about being young no more. He can always go the LL route and rap for the ladies, but his simpin ass will probably be married by then as well. He can't rap about the streets or struggling anymore so what is left?

LMAO. This nicca always talkin bout how he is an actor, but from the clips i seen of degrassi and that weird black and white one where he was gay, i really dont think he is that good of an actor. Maybe he would do well in the right role, i dont know, but he kinda needs to be in something first.
