Nah revisionist history. Views was heavily marketed and had a two pop single rollout with hotline bling and one dance. It had televised commercials during the NBA all star game/weekend. It ended up being his worst album.
More Life was thrown out there to keep Drakes name afloat but in reality he should’ve never released it. Take a 2 year break and smash the game upon your return. Imagine Scorpion with some of the best tracks off More Life. Might’ve been a special album.
Views had 20 songs and he shot videos for just hotline bling. No push for Controlla or Good to You. No video for one dance. He only performed Hype twice at big shows. No big push for Pop Style once Ye and Jay got off it.
He promoted the title well enough but when it came to the actual content, none of it outside the aforementioned singles got pushed hard and views is still really good on the low.
I agree about taking a break before scorpion but more life, for what it was, has some of his best straight rap songs. He didn't push the young thug, Kanye, 2 Chainz/quavo songs or his sampled J.Lo verse.
