With Travis and Ye they never really talk about no gangsta shyt in their music. Drake as he’s gotten older and more money has been talking about mob ties, smoking a nikkaz top, knife talk, shooting nikkaz in daylight shyt you already know he ain’t about. Like tbh Kendrick and Cole never even rap shyt like that. So that’s why I think he gets a lot of hate. When he first started he was gucci and wasn’t rapping like that. But hopefully Kendrick put a stop to all that tough talk.

So only Drake is considered pop because he raps about mob shyt sometimes? That makes sense to you?

I got a secret for you, 99% of rappers rap about fake shyt or shyt they don't really do. 21 Savage would be a serial killer if he did half the shyt he raps about. Its been like that forever. Why is this suddenly a problem when Drake does it?

Once again just say yall don’t like him because he’s light skin and Canadian and call it a day :russ:

But the thing about 21 savage is he came out like that he has more of an authenticity his homie got shot up in front of him. He’s surrounded and grew up with nikkaz that do that type of shyt.

Drake has no authenticity to street shyt what so ever. He never grew up around that shyt and his life is pretty much documented from degrassi that’s the difference. Plus you add the Canadian on top of it. Not to say they ain’t street shyt going on in Toronto because there is he was just never apart of it. Actually there’s a video when he had to be 18 or 19 of him making fun of how urban nikkaz talk in Toronto around a jewish group at a restaurant.

Drake is the equivalent of if Will Smith suddenly started to rap gangsta.

Here's a hot take.

Most people don't give a fukk about authentic Street credibility. This shyt being ranked as a sought after trait for rappers has fuelled crash dummy culture.

How is Drake the equivalent of Will Smith? Will was around all that growing up and managed by one of the most feared people. Simply not rapping about street life doesn't mean he is "like" Drake. And this is the problem. You guys literally want people to sell you the street image for you to respect them and it has muddied the game and fukked up these kids. They don't want to be square rather be a dead dummy and have bullshyt street cred. You can't keep feeding this narrative to the youth. This is how you went from college going Gangsta cube to a ton of dead drill rappers because they have to be about that life to rap about it. Ok

I remember I met Mos back in high School when they was filming Brown Sugar over there, park scene by Brooklyn tech walking home, G train.

Needless to say, everything Yaasin saying is 🎯 except the likeable part. Nıgga Aubrey music is ass.

  • It ain't subliminal rap about statutory raping bıtches

  • Mumbling someone else's written lyrics about being a fake gangsta with Houston bodyguards on payroll

  • Reading lyrics off your phone calling it a freestyle looking like a sensitive homo and industry plant fa sho.....case and point below 😬:

This guy thought he ate.
Mos Def is a conscious rapper and he said Drake ain't Hip-Hop. When a hip-hop head tells you this, you're quick to equate this about crime or being from the streets selling dope. Mos Def is literally the opposite of that, and he's telling people Drake isn't the rapper he could recognize like he collaborated with. It's also tone deaf when Drake has been associated with criminals in his music for years .

Will Smith could go the gangster route before tuna fish aubrey who obviously never ran any streets as a kid growing up. At least Will was, West Philadelphia born and raised on the playground was where he spent most of his days. Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin', all cool, shootin' some b-ball outside of the school when a couple of guys who were up to no good, started making trouble in his neighborhood. he got in one little fight and his mom got scared, and she said, "You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air".

Dude

To say Drake doesn’t take chances is just fundamentally not true, not all of it is to write home about obviously, but nobody has done more to heighten black artisty outside the states like he has.

So much wild shyt was said in this thread, but this is craaaazzzzzyyyy. :wow:
