so the only song i liked on this album after 2 listens were 'energy' and the song about his mama and daddy at the end i already forgot the name
on second listen i decided i didnt like the mama/daddy/family issues song. which left 'energy' as the last song flying the flag for this mix tape/album being even remotely worthwhile.
i have good news, 'energy' lasted 5 whole listens before it went in the bushes with the rest of the album. i think i figured out drakes flaw. its i dont believe his boasts. they come off homotional. usually when a rapper boast, you get the feeling of perseverance, of overcoming shyt, of celebrating. but with drake, its like he writes these songs after reading a negative comment about himself that got him in his feelings, or a girl said some shyt about him that affected his ideas of himself as a man, and it comes off insecure as fukk. and i dont want to relate to that.
that was always there even on nwts. but i think the musicality of that album saved him.
bring on the negs
ima speak my truth like martin luther king.
meanwhile, 'blacker the berry' bout to get that 100th listen from me.
