Beside the corny nature of making going at Drake a group project, it just don't sit right with me because everything was cool when he was benfiting you.
There was some solid stuff on this track too but starting this diss off with this whole intro scheme of self ether is why Drake is losing this battle so embarrassingly bad
1. So he begins by mocking Kendrick for not really being from Westside (a Compton piru set and one of the fist if not first piru sets in LA county... It's literally where piru street is located) and being a "civilian" when he's a biracial Canadian who was calling black Toronto slang ignorant 10 years ago. This let's us know that he himself thinks he's an actual street nikka because what civilian clowns another civilian for being a civilian.... Complete nonsense scheme
2. The nikka is so caught into his own Malibu's most wanted image that he actually believes critizing someone for not leaning into that gang stereotype in his raps like he does is a bad thing lol.... Mind you Kendrick is actually from that neighborhood grew up there and Drake is a suburbia Canadian... the lack of self awareness here is why he's getting clowned for being culture vulture and this perfectly exemplifies that
3. I'm general, what kind of geek would reference rap nikkas as a way to show what "real" members look like. He names Chris Brown (CB), YG, Chuck T (Game) as they all claim Compton sets unlike Kendrick. However Chris Brown is literally an implant from Carolina who didn't start claiming Fruit town until he was Damn near 18/19 years old... Yet you're mentioning him like he's a reputable that grew up in that set his whole life.... Ironically, he's telling us that these are the types things he himself identifies with, confirming he's an implant himself
This was one of the most hilarious and detached opens that I've heard in a while... It's like if bigge opened a pac reply with yeah you fukked my wife so what lmao. Then he futher cements the white boy angle by going into the slave bars lol yikes.
Just some nasty missteps in what is otherwise a solid track but that opening perfect captures how his delirium about who he is as a person is so easy to step on and that's what Kendrick has done throughout.
