I just found out that pawns can develop scars from the times they've been downed/killed. It can also happen when they're hired out. So not only can other players can get your pawn infected, they can send them back damaged.

Yo I was wondering why my pawg had scars on her chest. Wtf. Then again, she took a couple Ls with me during boss fights. Had to revive her as so many times.

I read that you need to do it after you have beaten her to the point she's about to leave. Then you equip the arrow and shoot

It's so quick I didn't even realize where I was aiming to be honest, I just shot as fast as I could and she was done
