Having the manga and anime running concurrently with different stories is stupid. Really isn't making sense and its confusing everyone.
Apparently Vegeta is running SSG Red in the manga because it uses less energy than Blue. He only uses Blue right before he attacks. They're trying to give SSB a weakness it doesn't have in the anime.
