Been doing a lot of rewatching....
Episode 77 when Goku and Beerus are arguing as to whether Goku should ask for the tournament is a lot of foreshadowing in retrospect. Beerus is like "do not do this...zen sama is a fukking threat...etc" Goku has a REALLY dark look about himself, tempting god in front of a god of destruction, even as Beerus has the hand ready to erase him up. Goku just goes
and does it. Beerus literally telling Goku that HE IS A PROBLEM and Goku like 
It was a nothing scene but it is very telling as to how hubris and really, stregnthlust for lack of a better phrase influences kakarot.
Meanwhile,
Vegeta takes care of his pregnant wife and family.

Its about that time breh, Goku is now Vegeta...He only cares about fighting strong people and a uncontrollable lust to get stronger, contrary to Vegeta who only cares about protecting his family, his universe as he knows Goku is careless and carefree as fukk; and he's not concerned about surpassing Goku even after seeing a new transformation, and now, hes the one who may be hiding something in his back pocket to save the day.....Its about time for that shift and to let Vegeta hold the crown.....Hope Vegeta is hiding something.
