Sadly. This is standard. Regular people think it's not. But they're just not experienced.
I work in a government building, literally paid for by fed, state, city, and when we increase our budget it comes out of taxpayer money. Our operating expenses is city and county funded. And we adhere to state and federal compliances yadda yadda yadda.
Long story short we had a new building built in 2018. Mf roof leaks, every time it rains. In 2025. Every time it rains, the roof leaks. Leaks right over a server too. Literally drips on to the floor next to an electronic server. People bytch about it every time it rains.
We laugh because there's a saying in government "you pay for the lowest bidder"
Now what's funny about that is we bytch about that at work. But last year I went into a burger king and while I was standing back waiting for my food, I hear the employees in the back complaining "the fukking roof leaks! When are we going to get that fixed!" And just going off about an obviously ongoing issue and I'm laughing inside because if they only knew.
And later last year I was at a grocery store, and I go down an aisle and they are pointing that the ceiling and shining a light, theres an employee with a mop (who obviously cleaned the floor) and a guy who im assuming is some sort of manager bytching about how the ceiling "hasn't been fixed".
