There's an order to them that makes the literature hit more. The 2 books I listed are among his most recent but they start the story. I haven't read "Thinking and Rethinking US history" yet but I'd probably put it at #3.

Then from there jump into it all. The US colonies, Texas, Haiti, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, South Africa, and the pacific.

You'll never look at the world the same again.
