I have a lot of alone time at my office. And sometimes, when I have a lot of work that I need to get done by the end of the night, I put on Compton. And since I've been pretty busy at work, I've listened to Compton quite a few times. And I have to say that to me this is definitely album of the year, and I can really appreciate the mature theme of the album. It's been said a couple of times on here, that this is grown man's hip-hop - I find this to be very true. Plus the whole album has loads of energy, lots of beat changes, very good features, incredible mixing and clarity, and stays entertaining throughout - although in different ways than Dre's previous albums. At first I'd given this 7/10. But now that I've had time to digest it and get to know it I'm giving it a 9/10. While Dre may not have been the initial creative force behind a lot of the beats, he definitely did his thing behind the boards. And while he may not have penned many, if any, lyrics, he did give a lot of consideration regarding lyrical content - what lyrics would be acceptable and what would not. Dre is definitely a perfectionist and it shows in this album. I can appreciate that.
