i feel like chappelles special wasnt meant to be a run of the mill comedy and korey was looking at it as one intermittently throughout the episode

I think he got that.

I think Korey wanted to see the finished product and not the seams. He always talks about how much work goes into making the DT shows that nobody sees. Lugging equipment, meetings, sound checks.

I think he wanted to see a more refined version. Even i noticed there was very little structure to the events he told.
