Don't sleep on Stephen Curry making the transition into an elite PG in '12/'13

Will Curry make the transition into being an elite PG this season?

The piss colored nikka has no ankles. Hes gonna miss atleast half the season, with some assortment of soft nikka injurys. Plus he plays no Defense, N even worse he plays for Golden State so whatever he does nobody's gonna see nor care

Move on nikka

He has great floor visibility, slept on (on the verge of being potentially great) play making ability and creating for others/passing, high ball IQ, equally efficient spotting up and shooting off the dribble, underrated touch around the rim, great at spacing the floor, has the mental tools to run a fast-paced fluid offense; both in transition and half-court.

He has all the tools that make an elite PG.

He's averaging 6 assists in his career; he averaged 6 last year splitting play making duties with Ellis (who also averaged 6 at GS last season) - he's got the keys now, so his usage and APG should go up. I'd say he's looking at around 8, give or take. In order for him to be elite, he doesn't need to be elite in all those categories, it's how he balances them all out and incorporates them into the offense. He's already got great passing, vision and ball-handling ability. He's one of, if not the best PG at spreading the floor; great in swing ball situations/curling out. He doesn't need to be effective with the ball in his hands all the time and has a great understanding of where shooters need to be positioned on the floor due to actual experience. He's arguably the best shooter at his position (+ the league) - which opens up EVERYTHING, the offense will have x-less % of being stagnant and losing its momentum/fluidness; defenses won't have the luxury of overcompensating on P&R/hedges/outlets/RTTR/cut situations etc etc. He basically breaks the 4on5/help defender schemes that defenses implement on teams that have incompetent shooter(s) at the 1.

With usage-limitations and injuries, he hasn't developed the awareness and consistency to work and breakdown half-court defense situations, to where he needs to be at an elite level - this season (if he stays healthy) I can see him getting over that hill.

It's been three years since I made this thread. Little did we all know what he'd become.

1*

Let this fool finish a season with his ankle intact before you start this elite talk. :shaq2:

I really had serious doubts about his ability to stay healthy. I think he did too when he signed that bargain extension about a month after this thread was made. Now he's the best player in the league. Incredible story and turn of events.

I bet the Suns are still salty behind what the Warriors did to them.

The Warriors and the Suns had a deal in place before the draft. The Suns were going to send Amare to the warriors for Stephon Curry and Andris Biedrins.

The deal was contingent on the Warriors drafting Curry, who the Suns were in love with.

When the Warriors drafted Curry, the Suns war room erupted in celebration

They thought they had their guy:heh:

But then, the Warriors went silent.Minutes turned to hours...the Suns draft room went

Warriors decided at the last minute to keep him.He would've been the perfect replacement for Nash.Would've been a lovely situation for the Suns.Having him be mentored by Nash for a year or two and taking over the reigns.Suns would've had a legit franchise player right now.Warriors single-handedly fukked the Suns future

That was our guy, Suns brehs

This is right up there with the Paxson 3
The coin flip for Kareem
The Amare/Diaw suspensions
The '94/'95 Rockets

It hurts.

We always do the opposite of this
