You know moving to a sprawling state like Texas you'd be doing a lot more driving and yes, for sports it's incredibly annoying - I can't disagree.
But the reality is, for all the praises shes singing of NY, she realistically can't move back because she can't afford it.
Down south you either have to chose to live in a small community in the deep burbs/middle of nowhere to get the feeling she's describing or the larger metropolitan areas, which comes with all the things she doesn't like. You aren't going to get both.
