Because Joe Johnson had a year with the most ppg in NBA history, and had the most points ever in a game.

.......

Of course not, Johnson plays in a real sport that basically isn't WWE with crash test dummies. My point is Johnson is a choke artist with nothing to show for it. One of the least clutch players in the NFL. I'm saying they're similar, not exactly the same.

Calvin Johnson is a supremely talented choke artist who puts up empty numbers in a league that's a few steps above the WWE

You compared someone with the most yards in a season and regulation game in history to Joe Johnson.

I also compared a basketball player to a football player. It's a not perfectly congruent comparison but there are parallels. But my point is both were/are paid a shyt ton of money to be the best guy, both put up big numbers, both are totally useless when it actually matters, and both are woefully reticent and introverted.

I'm not going to expect a guy with a QB with the intellect of an apricot in his avatar to be smart enough to discern that, though

I'm not. The NFL is a joke. Games are routinely fixed, games are purposely competitive for ratings, gambling and fantasy sports are the only things keeping it alive. Absolute joke of a league, but it's very entertaining.

The NBA would never change their rules to restrict physicality on numerous occasions to greatly increase scoring. Never.

I think the all time leader in NBA both single game points and season ppg is Wilt Chamberlain. Not Joe Johnson.

:jbhmm: Actually you're right. That's a way better comparison. Wilt Chamberlain put up tons of empty stats and choked a lot himself. But that would be unfair to Wilt cause he actually won a championship.

.....and Wilt left an indelible footprint in the history of the league, and an impact never to be duplicated. That's Calvin Johnson too? Great we are now getting somewhere

Individuals have a greater impact in basketball. Johnson will be a footnote. A great, great talent who put up numbers in a gimmick era with nothing to show for it other than a shyt ton of money. Reminds me of another certain Detroit football superstar :jbhmm:
